Darci Palmer became a credentialed veterinary technician in 2000. After working 2 years in an exclusive equine clinic, she began her career as an anesthesia technician at Washington State University (WSU) Veterinary Teaching Hospital. During her time at WSU she developed a real passion for teaching and learning about all aspects of anesthesia. She became certified as a Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) in Anesthesia and Analgesia in 2006.
Darci is an active member of the Academy of Veterinary Technicians in Anesthesia and Analgesia (AVTAA). In September 2016, she was appointed as the executive secretary and also completed her 6 year term on the executive board in the role of president elect, president and past president. Darci is the co-chair of the AVTAA credentials committee where she is in charge of updating the application instruction packet and overseeing the pre-application subcommittee. She is a member of NAVTA and has served on the Committee of Veterinary Technician Specialists (CVTS) since December 2012.
Darci has worked exclusively in anesthesia for the last 16 years with the majority of her experience in a university setting where she has worked alongside board certified anesthesiologists. She is currently employed at Southeastern Veterinary Surgery Center as the primary anesthetist for all surgical cases. Darci is a board moderator and Continuing Education instructor for the Veterinary Support Personnel Network (VSPN).
Darci has lectured at several veterinary conferences both locally and nationally. She was a featured speaker for the company ContinuEd from 2011 until 2016. Darci serves as an administrator for the Facebook group Veterinary Anesthesia Nerds. She can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
